The Gnars Auction Contract will act as a self-sufficient Gnar generation and distribution mechanism, auctioning one Gnar every 10 minutes, then less often, forever. As per the supply curve diagram shown below, auction duration doubles every 1000 auctions, known as “The Gnarving” and in effect halving the supply emission each time.

Auction durations at the launch of the Gnars v2 Protocol started at 40 minutes. After 1,000 auctions the duration doubled to 80 minutes (1 hour and 20 minutes) which is what the current duration is, as we have not had another Gnarving yet. In the latest UI upgrades a counter has been added to the auction site at Gnars.wtf which indicates how many auctions are remaining until the next Gnarving. As of 10/13/23, there are 535 auctions remaining.
